This is an amazing product and definitely worth getting instead of the standard wire that comes with pet fences! I just wish it were a little cheaper. I included a photo of this going into the system for size comparison. On the plug, this product is the thick heavy one in the red connector. The one that came with my pet fence is the thin wire in the black connector - there is a huge difference!Good fencingThis is a huge roll of wire. We bought it to install an in-ground fence for my dogs at my parents' farm. It is very sturdy, works well with our PetSafe Stubborn Dog In-Ground Fence system, and it comes on a big spool you can just unwind as you install it. The doggies were very happy!May 30, 2022: I bought this wire as replacement for the Worx Landroid perimeter wire I had running around my property, the original wire was made of coils of smaller wires and I am happy this new wire is a single solid strand, I think this will help with the overall durability of the perimeter; I’m hoping so since my previous wire had 3 breaks in it after 2 years. Will update if this new wire gets cut/at the end of the season if it doesn’t get cut.Update 7/26: Last night my landroid managed to run into one of the lines, I've been adjusting and resetting them so it operates cleanly. When running into this new line the mower did not cut it, so I didn't have to repair it! Very happy to see this.I was installing a new fence wire around our new house and I needed a new wire as I left the old wire in the ground at my old house. When I installed that petsafe unit I used the stick 22g wire and that listed about 4 years before I had to replace it.... Knowing this I wanted a better wire so I wouldn't be reinstalling a new wire every couple years. So I went with the 16g wire and was very happy with the quality when it arrived.I would have liked a thicker wire yet but anything thicker then this wouldn't fit in the crack in my concrete driveway and I didn't want to cut a new groove in the driveway.I rented a gas powered tool from the hardware store that dredged the groove in the ground and also placed the wire in the bottom. It cost me 50 bucks for 4hours but was so worth it as it took about 10 min to go around my 1/3 arce lot. Took longer to glue the wire in the groove in the concrete.I did create two zones around my house with one giant loop of wire....u just need to bring it in closer the house on the sides of your house...this creates a backyard and front yard zone. My dog can go from back to front or front the back oy through my garage door...this way I can keep him just in the back of that's what I want. I also didn't take the wire all the way to the road as my dog is 120lb beast that people get scared of when he runs down there when there walking by....this way he stops a good 10-15ft before sidewalk/road.....Striping the wire was good and they do have a nice thick insulation on the solid copper core wire. It plugged into my petsafe base unit with out any issues. Because its solid core copper wire and 16g there is very little resistance in the 500ft wire. It does make it hard to twist the wire together to cancel the signal out. Luckily I only had to for about 15ft where the wire came into my basement to the base station. This way the dog wouldn't get shocked if he went by the base station in the house. I found that keeping one leg longer and then wrapping that linger leg around the shorter leg was easiest way to twist the wires together.I would buy this wire again for any in ground wire needs I had. I also recommended this wire to about a dozen people now and they all have had similar experiences as myself...one friend even did 5 acres of yard without any issues....Wife wants some lights installed around the house and some trees and I will be buying this wire to install those low voltage lights also...Great productwe had construction in our yard and they cut through the original invisible fence we had and we had to move the perimeter. called the company about purchasing more wire and it was more than twice the price than what we found here on amazon. this worked great and our girls are again safe in their yard with more room to run!I purchased this item to use with a SportDog in-ground system. I'm glad I did- the wire that comes with pre-packaged systems is very thin when compared to this wire. The actual copper conductor in the monster brand cable is 2.5 times as thick as the stuff that comes with the system. The bigger difference is in the insulating jacket- this wire has very thick jacketing- it is at least as thick as the wire. When it comes to operation, thinner wire will work just as well as thicker wire for most in-ground dog fences. However that assumes the wire is unbroken- and that's where buying better wire comes into play. I spent a day trenching my yard, pulling wire, etc. I do not want to do that again. Ever. So I was willing to spend a little more to get something I feel will last.Perhaps the only downside to this wire is that twisting it (for where you want to cancel the signal) can be tricky. If you are not careful, the wire will twist up onto itself, creating loops of twisted wire. To solve this, attach the loose ends of the wire of something like an 18" board. Secure the wire where you want the twists to end, then take the board in your hands and start spinning it around. If you keep tension on the wire it will twist properly. Keep tension on the twisted section as you put it in place. Finally, when it comes to installing, having heavier wire makes everything easier. The stronger wire and thicker jacket means it is much easier to pull it into position without worrying about breaking the wire or tearing the protective jacket. With the aid of only a ten year old I was able to pull the entire spool of wire around the yard in about ten minutes. I didn't worry about the wire rubbing against a branch, nor that a little tension would snap the wire.I have a large property (acres) that is fenced by one of the big wire fence brands. Had a line break and the unit kept beeping so I called to have their professional come out to fix the break. Kid who came out to fix the break spent hours trying to find the problem - patched up some spots and left saying that it was fixed. Less then a few hours later the unit started beeping again. Decided to fix it on my own and spent half the money on this wire then it would cost for another service call. Ended up running all new wire along different sections after testing with a multimeter. Fixed the issues and I would buy this product again.I substituted this wire for the boundary wire that came with my Worx Landroid WR150 mower kit because my yard perimeter longer than the wire provided in the kit. It worked perfectly.Really great quality
