The five stars are for the value of the rod mount. But let me first say that I am not using this to hold a fishing rod, at least not yet. And I can't claim that I came up with this idea, I saw it on Pinterest. I have been building a camping trailer and I saw this idea for a flashlight mount. Someone used a single fishing Rod mount to hold a Maglite flashlight. I could have just bought a single mount but I decided to go with the 3 rod mounts because the price for the 3 mounts was just a few dollars more than the single mount. I used a hacksaw to cut off a single mount (See pictures). I will mount this on the trailer. I have already tested it and the Maglite fits perfectly. And I also kept the slots with the mount to hold a couple of tools. And I still have 2 more Rod mounts to use for another flashlight, or some other tool, or maybe even a fishing Rod. Anyway for a few bucks these are great mounts with a lot of different uses.
